Whats happening this week?

Be Happy In Your Own Skin a mental health programme in Kilkenny Loretto School a great success, speaking in Belfast on Friday, filming a pilot TV Series on Monday.

Whats happening this week:

On Thursday I am addressing a forum on mental health and well being in the Convention Centre, and then onwards on the same day to the Crowne Plaza Hotel to interview ex Irish Coach Eddie O Sullivan for the High Achievers Club. A club that mentors people on achieving dreams and goals from a business point of view to personal growth, I have agreed to interview a high profile figure from either sport or business over the next year on their success and failures, and what in their mind is the mindset of becoming a high achiever.

On Friday I am taking the stage with George Hook at a charity lunch, and then onto the Glenview Hotel in Wicklow for what I hope will be an entertaining pre dinner talk around my life in rugby to a business group prior to the Ireland v Wales rugby match.

What I deliver

Mental Well Being

1 In 4 Irish people will suffer some form of mental health problems in an area that is so often stigmatised.  Its good to talk.

Over the years I have been able to tailor different areas of public speaking. I am often asked to be a national spokes person on mental health issues and well being, and have addressed many schools, sports clubs and businesses on the value of strong body strong mind. I am a national spokesperson and ambassador for St Patricks Hospital “Walk in My Shoes” and “Cycle against Suicide” as well as many other smaller or locally based mental health charities. And hope to run out my own innovative Be Happy in Your Skin project aimed at transitional year students and allowing them to be happy with whom they are.

Motivation- Business and personal growth

I am also a motivational business speaker and part of the High Achievers Club, a club that drives success through indivdual and group mentoring. My lessons in sport, mental wellbeing, professional life and sport coaching, business acumen and media insight gives me an ideal platform to motivate individuals and businesses alike on achieving their goals and effective man management. It is about empowering others to achieve their goals in life.

Entertainment.  After dinner speaking

My years as a rugby player, coach and media pundit, plus my stories of the characters in rugby, has allowed me to speak at many after dinner and lunch functions and hopefully entertain both a male and female audience. I am also well able to MC events from start to finish and orchestrate action packed quiz nights.

“Brent, Apologies about the delay in sending this note but many thanks for being a brilliant MC on Saturday night.  You have being receiving so many compliments for your great contribution to the night!  Over 300 people attended The Charity Ball this year  and raised a staggering €17,000 for the ICS which was great.  Have a great Christmas and New Year. Kind regards”

Ursula Murphy, Alliance Ireland

“Brent is a passionate and persuasive speaker and it is this passion that fuels his ability to ignite the enthusiasm of any audience on the delicate and sensitive topic of mental health issues.  He creates an emotively engaging atmosphere in the room and brings to light the prevalence and significance of the issues in a way which is non threatening and strikes a relevant chord in everyone’s heart.  The messages conveyed from Brent’s personal and professional experience are communicated and understood in an effort to eliminate any lingering taboo’s and reduce the perception of stigmatism attached to the various conditions which come in under the ‘umbrella term’ of mental health, so that people affected either directly or indirectly are comfortable to seek help”.

Hi Brent, Hope you’re well. It was a pleasure to meeting you. The feedback was so positive. Everyone really enjoyed your after dinner speech. It had just the perfect balance and appealed to everyone on the night – people who knew about sport and the ones that didn’t.  I’ve had a lot of people interested in booking you for their future dinners etc. and will be referring them to you.

Tomas Galvin, CEGAS

Brent visited us in GE Capital Aviation Services Limited recently to launch the GE Global “HealthAhead” day for our office in Shannon. Brent gave a humorous and entertaining talk to staff on the topic of “a healthy body is a healthy mind”. He also linked this to the more serious topic of mental health problems and openly discussed his own experiences with this. His talk kept the large audience in attendance enthralled throughout and he happily answered all questions from those in attendance. Brent was an absolute pleasure to deal with from the very beginning of the process and posed for photographs and signed copies of his autobiography after the talk. Feedback from staff members after the presentation was excellent, with everyone complimenting the event and Brent’s talk. We would highly recommend Brent as a guest speaker for any occasion.
