Brent Pope Shirts banner

In 2014 Brent Pope established “POPE” shirts. High quality, high street tailored shirts using the finest fabrics in Europe. With a “passion for fashion” and often voted as one of “Irelands best dressed men” Brent wanted to bring his own distinctive brand to the Irish market. His catch phrase of “Quality isn’t expensive it is priceless” is his brand motto. “I wanted shirts that were easy enough to wash and iron, that kept their shape well, but most importantly the material felt amazing on and stood the test of time” For years I had brought expensive brand shirts that looked great in the shop on the hanger, but were always difficult to keep smart and after a few wears almost always lost their sheen. The concept of POPE started when I thought that for men that are were larger in physique like me, that there are very few brands out there that allowed a tailored yet flattering fit? Afterall even big men want to look good too?. My mother always told me that a nice pair of leather shoes, a nice fresh, classic shirt and a smart blazer in traditional colours and styles always looks good on a man, I tend to agree, its about timeless quality.

Against this background I sourced the very best materials in Europe and I kept the designs including collar size, cuffs, buttoning and colours simple but still elegant. These are shirts that will look good tucked in with a fine suit, or equally as good out loose over jeans for a more casual street appeal. Like with everything I have achieved in my life I just want purchasers of POPE shirts to appreciate the product, to walk up to me on the street and say “I love my POPE Shirt” customer satisfaction is the only criteria for me. If the shirts are a success I have plans to release blazers, accessories and POPE shoes, all the way from Italy and top quality leather at affordable prices. Watch this space…

Brent Pope with Kevin MacDermot

In his candid autobiography, If You Really Knew Me, Brent Pope talks openly, for the first time ever, about his rugby career and personal life. A ruthless, tough player who “ran like a reverse hovercraft”, Popey’s aggressive, uncompromising style inspired the legendary players around him and the teams he coached.
